This Week's Lessons: I was Humbled
I'm learning to open up. I'm learning to share more and share things that I feel may be important for photographers/creatives that are beyond the camera and lens.
It’s Friday, I’m sitting back at my desk and if I’m being honest, wasting time. As I develop this Substack for photographers, videographers and other creatives it’s important to be brutally honest for your benefit (and my own!) - so here are the lessons that I learned.
Frustration: When you work closely with people, just announce that your mood may be a little off. This way if you react to something that doesn’t require a big reaction, they know it’s outside influences. Obviously you’d want to stay unaffected but we’re humans and humans mess up.
Opening Up: This substack is forcing me to open up more, and just share more of my life. I was questioning why I should even do it, because you have many, many choices of mentors these days. Then I realized that none have my experience and I should share. That sharing could save someone grief and if that’s the case - do it!
One at a time: I’m still learning this lesson. First finish your website. Then finish the shoot. Then jump to the next shoot. Put 100% of focus into each assignment and don’t start something new without ending another project.
No need to defend: Someone said something about my recent Vanity Fair Magazine Cover. Honestly, I wanted to say so much. I chose not to and the audio record will share why. It’s not worth it. If you hate it, that’s great. If you like it, that’s great. Whatever you think - that’s great.
Arm Brace: I’m getting older. You’re getting older. Everyone is! And I’m forced myself to join a bootcamp. While I’ve seen a lot of benefits in how I feel, I’m now in a declining stage. My elbow hurts. My knees hurt. And I have to accept that as you age, your body changes and it might be time for additional support.
So if you ache, can I say that my Tommie Copper arm brace is worth every dollar? And I’m also taking fish oil and something with collagen peptide. I haven’t even opened that package yes so I’ll focus on what I know is working.
GET YOURSELF AN ARM/KNEE BRACE! This is the one I bought… Tommie Copper Brace (that is an affiliate link and if you buy it, I’ll earn about 2 pennies)
