Let’s get to the nitty gritty of helping you make more money. BTW, if you do video work…please stay! All of this applies to you too.
You should have 3 price points for your photography. People are accustomed to 3, not so much anything else. See the video for an in-depth explanation.
Don’t corner your clients with an “it’s this or that or goodbye” attitude. You can do that easily if you position your pricing incorrectly.
It’s not about you. It won’t ever be about you. It’s about making sure THEY look like a hero. The reward is, that newly crowned hero will forever keep you employed for their own gain. We talk about this a lot on S.T.E.P. Pricing!
You will need to place value on your work at all times. It’s not a one & done rule. You must always remind them of your value, and then they do the work. The video will go really in-depth about this, as well as every other point!
It took me a while to learn but people like Divas. I can’t defend it but I can surely explain it. People see photography and video as a splurge. They want the luxury allure. Give it to them!
The way you collect the money can make it a painful process or painless. I do 50/25/25 and I’ve found that’s the easiest for me, my clients and every student in S.T.E.P. Pricing!
Call their bluff and send them out into the wild. No one’s gonna threaten you and you’re not going to tolerate it from anyone. OUT THEY GO!
Consider subscription services - please. They’ll thank you for it. Take away the pain. You can make your services so effortless and book nonstop. We love to complicate life and in the case of the real estate photographer/videographer - you can see a clear example of making life easy for the real estate agent.
Size matters. What your numbers and how you price. Big numbers scare people. $199 is worse than $225
Be a friend! It’s the fastest, easiest, most authentic way of getting photography and video clients. Check in on people, mark important dates in your calendar and watch them fall in love with you. It’s more fun when you like your clients and they like you!
Sell in sections! For example if you are selling a video package, don’t immediately pitch the BTS photos as an add-on. It’s overwhelming. Instead focus on the package you’re selling. Let them decide, pay the deposit and make them feel great. Then as the first deposit is made, ask if they’d be interested in additional services for a small fee. You’ll jump from a NO THANKS to about 60% chance of YES, TELL ME MORE!
Did you watch the full video on this page? It goes into depth and I stand by this, so I’ll do it BOLD font to really mean it…
IF YOU ADOPT 2-3 OF THESE TACTICS, YOUR BUSINESS SHOULD 2X OR 3X IN NO TIME! You deserve to have a full-time business, and you deserve a mentor that will get you there.
